নূর" উপন্যাসটি লিখেছেন লতিফুল ইসলাম শিবলী এবং এটি প্রকাশিত হয়েছে অক্টোবর ২০২৩-এ। লেখক, যিনি তাঁর সৃষ্ট গান দিয়ে একটি প্রজন্মের দুঃখ-সুখের ডায়েরি রচনা করেছেন, এবার ইতিহাসের এক অসাধারণ অধ্যায় নিয়ে এসেছেন।

"নূর" আমাদের নিয়ে যায় পলাশীর যুদ্ধ পরবর্তী বাংলার এক অজানা অধ্যায়ে। নবাব সিরাজ-উদ-দৌলার পরাজয়ের পর ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া কোম্পানি সুবে বাংলা ও বিহার দখল করে নেয়। যদিও এই ঘটনা ইতিহাসে বড় করে লেখা আছে, এর আরেকটি গৌরবময় অধ্যায় অনেকের কাছে অজানা। পলাশীর যুদ্ধের পরবর্তী তিন দশকে ফকির মজনু শাহ-এর নেতৃত্বে এক গেরিলা যুদ্ধ পরিচালিত হয়। প্রায় ৫০ হাজার চাকরিচ্যুত সৈন্য, কৃষক, মুসলিম সাধক এবং হিন্দু সন্ন্যাসীরা এতে অংশ নেন। এই লড়াই ছিল অন্যায়-অত্যাচারের বিরুদ্ধে মানুষের সম্মিলিত প্রতিরোধ।

এই উপন্যাসের আরেক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ চরিত্র হলেন সোবহান শাহ এবং তাঁর মেয়ে নূর। এই সাহসী বীর এবং তাঁর মেয়ে সেই গ্রামে এসেছিলেন অন্যায়কে নির্মূল করতে এবং সাধারণ মানুষকে মুক্ত করতে। নূর জন্মান্ধ হলেও তাঁর অনুভূতির ক্ষমতা এতটাই প্রখর ছিল যে তিনি অন্তরের দৃষ্টি দিয়ে মানুষকে বুঝতেন। অত্যাচারী জমিদার অশোক গুপ্তের ছেলে সমুদ্র গুপ্ত, যার দানবীয় চেহারা মানুষকে ভয় পাইয়ে তুলত, তার জীবন বদলে যায় নূরের একটি বাক্যে:

"আপনি পৃথিবীর সবচেয়ে সুন্দর মানুষ।"

নূরের এই অন্তর্দৃষ্টি সমুদ্র গুপ্তের জীবন পাল্টে দেয়। সে মানুষের দুঃখ-কষ্ট উপলব্ধি করতে শেখে এবং সাধারণ মানুষের সঙ্গে একাত্ম হয়ে যায়।

লতিফুল ইসলাম শিবলী অত্যন্ত গভীর এবং সংবেদনশীলভাবে এই গল্পটি উপস্থাপন করেছেন। তাঁর লেখার ভাষা সহজ, মায়াবী এবং পাঠকের মন ছুঁয়ে যায়। ইতিহাসের প্রেক্ষাপট এবং চরিত্রগুলোর আবেগ এতটাই সুন্দরভাবে ফুটিয়ে তোলা হয়েছে যে পাঠক সহজেই গল্পের সঙ্গে সংযুক্ত হতে পারেন।

এই বইটি ইতিহাস, মানবিকতা এবং অনুভূতির এক চমৎকার সংমিশ্রণ। নূর চরিত্রটি পাঠকের মনকে নাড়া দেয় এবং মানুষের মধ্যে মানবিকতা ও ন্যায়বোধ জাগ্রত করে।

"Nur" is a novel written by Latiful Islam Shibli, published in October 2023. The author, who has penned the diary of a generation's joys and sorrows through his songs, now brings an extraordinary chapter of history to life.

"Nur" takes us to an unknown chapter of Bengal following the Battle of Plassey. After the defeat of Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah, the East India Company seized control of Bengal and Bihar. While this event is prominently documented in history, another glorious chapter remains unknown to many. In the three decades following the Battle of Plassey, a guerrilla war was led by Fakir Majnu Shah. Nearly 50,000 dismissed soldiers, farmers, Muslim ascetics, and Hindu monks participated in this resistance. It was a collective struggle of people against injustice and oppression.

Another key figure in the novel is Sobhan Shah and his daughter Nur. These courageous individuals arrived in the village to eradicate injustice and liberate ordinary people. Although Nur was born blind, her heightened sense of perception allowed her to understand people through the vision of her soul. The life of Samudra Gupta, the son of the oppressive landlord Ashok Gupta, known for his terrifying appearance, changed with just one statement from Nur:

"You are the most beautiful person in the world."

Nur’s insight transformed Samudra Gupta’s life. He began to empathize with people’s suffering and united with the commoners.

Latiful Islam Shibli has portrayed this story with remarkable depth and sensitivity. His writing style is simple, poetic, and emotionally resonant, touching the hearts of readers. The historical backdrop and the emotions of the characters are depicted so beautifully that readers can easily connect with the story.

This book is a magnificent blend of history, humanity, and emotions. The character of Nur profoundly impacts readers, evoking a sense of humanity and justice.
